Classic Album Sundays at Land Of Kings

Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy hosts Classic Album Sundays, a communal, audiophile listening experience that outgrew her home and hit a cultural nerve. Now one of the world’s most recognised Record Clubs, CAS lets you take a break from the world-weary humdrum of life and enjoy a truly timeless album: in its entirety, on peerless hi-fi equipment, transporting you light-years away from low-rate MP3s, downloads, tinny phone speakers and the myriad distractions of social media that clutter many people’s musical lives. Join us for Saint Etienne’s iconic 1991 ‘Foxbase Alpha’. Presented by Jack Rollo, of Dalston’s swaggeringly cool record shop Kristina Records, it captures the indie-dance movement of the era. The second session features Brian Eno’s ‘Another Green World’, an obvious choice, being one of Colleen’s favourite albums of all time and the catalyst behind CAS. Aside from Eno’s signature experimentalism, it also features one of the most romantic songs of all time (according to Colleen). Lovely. So take a pew, put your feet up, and let the uninterrupted soundscapes of two classic albums breeze by as you sip a Jack Daniel’s ‘Old Fashioned’ cocktail on the house: Single Barrel served on a rock of ice, with a dash of bitters and a lick of orange. And when the current climate makes everyone’s soul die a little more each day, what could be better than a good old whiskey-aided Classic Album Sundays session?
