Dalston Darlings

So you thought the King’s shindigs only happened at night?  Well, we’re not afraid to face the day.  Which is why the Dalston Darlings’ bonanza kicks things of on Saturday morning and into the afternoon, to easer you into round two, raring and ready.

The dazzling Darlings take over the Eastern Curve Garden for interactive fun, games and merriment to rival the royalist of fetes.  Expect all the favourites – raffles, face-painting, costumes, comedy sketches, games, food and drink, whipped up into a frenzy by host and festival-veteran Clayton Wright.  Last seen at 2011’s Land of Kings sporting some very becoming vicar garb marrying couples at the Dalston Boy’s Club on the Royal Wedding Day, this time Clayton dons regal robes taking the role of her madge, The Queen.  Cutting a fine figure, he’ll host The May Day Queen Contest, inviting audience participation for the scoring of each round.  Those in need of a snack or two can tuck into cream teas, cakes, and bites from the Darlings’ kitchen. Or, for the more gastronomically adventurous, there’s flippin delicious okonomiyaki from Sho Foo Doh.  A Chatsworth Road Market fav, expect mouth-watering savoury pancakes, made with love, flipped with fun. Give us a better way to start your Saturday, and we’ll eat our crowns*.

Join in from 10am. Bring your fun hats and fat pants.
