FIRST WAVE LINE UP ANNOUNCEMENT

After leaving the pavements of Dalston fallow last year, WE’RE BACK on Bank Holiday Sunday 3rd May for sixteen hours of music, art, food and film. With a hoard of fresh faces, plus some familiar friends, this year’s roster of talent criss-crosses the breadth of Hackney’s effulgent creative heart, with a programme taking you across the neighbourhood from midday through till the dew-filled hour of 6am. Get involved and grab your tickets here.

LIVE MUSIC

Well, there’s genre-defying, electronic savant TOM VEK, performing a special, solo A/V set, alongside Border Community’s purveyor of organic techno NATHAN FAKE. Devotees to the groove, JUCE usher in their marbled 90s-influenced power pop, whilst Young Turks’ KORELESS brings his blend of velvety 2-step and ambient electronica. Further performances come from BOXED IN, bringing their seductively layered melodic pop; all female, choral powerhouse DEEP THROAT; alchemically rhythmic MO KOLOURS; electronic experimentalist HAIRY HANDS and Sri-Lankan born sonic explorer MY PANDA SHALL FLY.

DJs

On the DJ front, Dalston’s basements, backrooms and banquet suites bounce to the likes of prodigal house vanguards WAZE & ODYSSEY, clubland’s favourite party animals THE 2 BEARS, crate-diggers, masters of the edit and all-round disco cosmonauts PSYCHEMAGIK, and NTS resident MOXIE – with her eclectic selection of techno, grime and hip-hop. Plus Balearic misfits SOFT ROCKS, rising beatsmith TOBY GALE and foragers of the electronic outback PUBLIC INFORMATION DJS.

STAGE PARTNERS

…include club juggernauts BUGGED OUT, hosting the festival end-up party at Oval Space, the E8-based, world-dominating indie imprint MOSHI MOSHI and Island Records’ event offshoot ISLAND LIFE – transforming Dalston Roof Park into a sky-high alfresco showcase. Also weighing in, globetrotting DJ/promoter duo KRANKBROTHER, on point label/promoters TAPE CLUB, booking agency THE POOL, NOISEY and THUMP lord up the manor with their own venue takeovers. Full line ups to follow.

ART/INTERACTIVE

Masters of camp irreverence GIDEON REELING preside over their hub for late night antics “LAND OF QUEENS , and the neighbourhood’s long standing beacon for film, the Rio Cinema, hosts a late show of local shorts. New for 2015, “ROYAL THOUGHTS” serves up a salon of talks, interviews and ideas, alongside clever futurists LET’S BE BRIEF bringing their creative forum to the fold. Finally, the East End’s answer to the WI, DALSTON DARLINGS make a welcome return as do off-piste film curators LOST PICTURE SHOW, and STREET FEAST, serving up their signature top nosh for a festival special on their Dalston home turf.

VENUES

Confirmed venues include local stalwarts THE ALIBI and BIRTHDAYS, ARCOLA THEATRE, subterranean labyrinth the BUNKER, DALSTON ROOF PARK, hidden oasis EASTERN CURVE GARDEN, RIO CINEMA, back-street drinking den SERVANT JAZZ QUARTERS, and TOTAL REFRESHMENT CENTRE. Steering festival-goers into the night, OVAL SPACE throws open its doors to host the Land of Kings Afterparty taking the reigns till dawn.
