Mo Kolours

Mauritian-English producer Joseph Deenmamode works with samples and sounds the way an artist like Kandinsky rendered his paintings. Things emerge, intrude, and reform, but it’s all part of a well considered whole. Sometimes disconcerting, more often gorgeous and rich, it’s drawn from a pallet of dub, Afrobeat, and lo fi soul sounds that speak of both his background and the world around him. The icing on the musical cake are his vocals, breezing coolly over his broken beats, it feels at times like it shouldn’t work, but it really does.
