Ruling with an Iron Tongue
For all the budding wordsmiths and wits about town this fair eve, our fav poetry slammers Hammer & Tongue are holding court at The Victoria. With their travelling troupe of slam savants, H&T bring poets, rappers and slam artists together for heated battle in the ultimate war-of-wits.
Tonight’s Live Spoken Word & Open Poetry Slam features the 2010 World Slam Champion Ian Keteku, on tour from Canada and with stage-sharing credits that boast the mighty Wu Tang Clan, as well as Chester P from UK hip hop titans Task Force. Joining these word-wizards will be the brave entrants to the open mic slam – get there early if you want in, there’s only 8 places available and they get snapped up sharper than a speed-soliloquy. Winners are decided by the audience – and there’s nothing like a bit of group-judging action to put people on their toes (or tongues) – going through to a regional final, with a chance to win a place in the National Slam Final.
Doors open 7pm, battle slightly after. Or, if you miss them tonight, Hammer & Tongue play Land of Kings.
