Tucked away just off Kingsland High Street is one of the festival’s most intimate settings, the Servant Jazz Quarters, so named because in the building’s past life you could hear the saxophonist playing his warm up scales from the upstairs Vortex Club. Its feeling of warm authenticity has seen names as well regarded and varied as Giles Peterson, Kwabs, and the Staves huddle into SJQ to perform in its distinctive digs.
