We all know Victoria Park is a beacon for fun and games come Summer, when the East London masses descend on its grassy banks for Field Day, Lovebox, and a host of other sun-loving activities. About time, then, that it’s spruced up for Winter as well. Enter Winterville, Hackney’s “alternative” Winter Wonderland, but without the hellish mass of tourists, soulless bars and fake German market. Complete with ice rink, roller disco, classic fairground rides (ferris wheel and various spinning contraptions), Winterville’s East End roots shine through in its choice of collaborators. Grub for the hungry comes in the form of street food vendors, with Dalston’s fav pizza and cocktail haunt Voodoo Ray’s serving up tasty slices, Wholefood Heaven catering for the vegan/veggie/raw contingency, toasties from The Cheese Truck and slow-smoked BBQ offerings from Smokestak. Not a rubbery wurst or BO-onion in site, and as it’s E9, there’s craft beer aplenty too.

Land of Kings friends & fam Bugged Out!, Disco Bloodbath and Gideon Reeling are on hand to provide entertainment, alongside other East London institutions Dalston Superstore, Dance Tunnel and more.

Go on, get down there. It’s Christmas.
